If Y = (2x + 1)³, find dy/dx
Solution
Y = (2x + 1)³
Let 2x + 1 = v
therefore dv/dx = 2
Y = v³ (Remember 2x + 1 has been replaced with v)
dy/dx = 3v²
Applying the chain rule formula
dy/dx = dy/dx * dv/dx
We have: 3v² * 2
3(2x + 1)² * 2
Ans: 6(2x + 1)²
