THE 10 BEST WAYS TO EARN RESPECT FAST!
It can be so frustrating and painful when you’re not respected, when people don’t listen to you, when they brush your opinion aside or when they never pick any of your ideas but here is the thing - you have to start doing some things to start earning more respect. You have to create an impression on the people you expect to respect you. People just don't respect anybody and that's why you need to work for it and "earn" it. In today's post I'll be sharing with you the 12 best easy ways to earn respect fast.
1. TALK LESS, LISTEN MORE:
This simple way of life has been proven to be one of the best way to earn respect even from those you didn't expect to respect you. You don't just ramble and talk tiredlessly about your self while you leave others with no other option than to keep mute. You are not making a speech, it's a conversation so why should it be that only your voice must be heard. If your voice dominate others' voice in a conversation, they'll ignore you and not only disrespect you but also hate you and all you say won't matter to them. They'll see you as someone just blabbering. So to gain respect from others, you have to talk less and listen more.
2. GIVE MORE, TAKE LESS:
Of course you have to exhibit the habit of giving more and taking less because nobody respect mendicants. To gain respect, You just have to brace up yourself to a certain level that your giving will be more than your taking, learn not to accept every single gift and every single offer. When you say no to some offers, it makes your value known to others and people starts respecting you even Unconsciously because they psychology interpretes to them that this individual deserve more respects and they start respecting you even without them being fully aware of it.
3. STOP BEING TOO NICE:
It is of a popular saying that we cannot satisfy everyone and that's very true. No matter how nice you are people Ain't going to be satisfied. Infact, your being to nice makes people to take you for granted and disrespect you. They believe you are a kind of cheap junks that just want to gain like from everyone (which is not possible) You can't be liked by everyone and that's the truth you should know today. No matter how nice you are, you'll still have people that hate you, It's normal. Infact, If you are too nice, people tend to disrespect you the more - It's a proven fact. Too much familiarity brings disrespect and that's why you shouldn't be too nice if you really want to earn respect.
4. PLACE SOME VALUE ON YOUR TIME:
Nobody respect an 'always available' person you have to place some value on your time in such a way that you don't also annoy people with disappointments and declines you just have to be optimistic about doing things. spend less time visiting or chatting. Don't be afraid to say no, don't be present in events or parties if you are not invited and if at all you are invited, it's not necessary you attend all. spend less time in the ones you attend and leave early. If you're always available, People take you for granted and you ain't going to gain respect, rather you'll be disrespected even more.
5. STOP FREQUENT APOLOGY:
Apologizing simply means accepting that you are guilty and sorry for whatever thing has happened. But some people are used to apologising to the slightest incident. Apologizing is good but too much of it is just as bad too. You can replace the "I am sorry" phrase with "Excuse me" or "thank you" where necessary, you can even replace it with silence. You just don't have to apologise to everyone in every instance if you need people to respect you. I once learnt that "Never say "sorry" to another driver after a car accident. It's an admission of guilt and could be used against you in court." Of course not in the case of an accident alone but in all other instance too.
6. KEEP TO YOUR PROMISES:
If you'll never keep to your promises, never make the promise at all! it's a common saying that 'Promise is a debt.' so why do you need to incur debts you cannot pay? Is it not a good idea to surprise people with gift rather than making them to expect gifts from you? What if you cannot give the gift anymore? That shorten your height of respect and make people disrespect you. Make promises you can keep up with. If you are not sure if you can fulfill a promise make it a surprise because if you can't meet up with the surprise the person never knew about it so you'll be respected as always.
7. DON'T BE TOO SUBMISSIVE, DON'T BE TOO DOMINANT:
Being submissive and being dominant at their extreme is very bad but you want to dominant so that people won't disrespect your opinion. not to oppress others and in the other way, you should be humble and submissive but not to the extent where people start taking you for a jerk. You have to strike the balance! Talk less but each time you talk, let your voice count. Remember, your actions determines the way you are respected and being too harsh or making people timorous can scare them away but can't stop them from disrespecting you.
8. SAY LESS ABOUT YOUR SELF:
Don't be a runny mouth. Try to be secretive and confidential to some extent. Not everyone is supposed to know what's going on in your private life. Some tends to tell people about themselves thinking that's the only way to gain the love of the person... It's not always true, maybe you'll even get gossip instead of love. If the wrong people are aware of your secrets, It can ruin the life of the individual and also bring total disregard by others. Try to be confidential and be sensitive of words that comes out of your mouth because if they are out, it travels with the air and before anything everyone now know about it. It can bring you down psychologically and make you feel Inferior thereby making others to relate anyhow with you.
9. DON'T AGREE TO EVERYTHING:
Yes! Just like I said earlier, you don't agree to every offer that comes your way, you just have to say no sometimes and move on. That way, you gain more value and people know you for who you are and treat you specially like the valuable person you are. Do things that makes you happy not what you think will satisfy everyone because nothing satisfies everyone at thesame time.
10. TRY TO SOLVE GENERAL PROBLEMS:
People do respect the problem solvers, you should be adding value to someone's life in one way or the other before he or she start tho respect you. If people can't get something meaningful from you, they will not only disrespect you but also ignore you. No one cares about how beautiful the packaging is, they only pay for the content. A bit of marketing there but that's just how it is. Be a problem solvers, Even your opinion can solve problem, not until you invent anything before you solve problem. People do love and respect problem solvers.
IN CONCLUSION:
To cap it all, respect is reciprocal. You have to apply the law of give and take.
Respect others to also gain respect, do things normally. Confront with diplomacy where necessary, be a problem solvers, don't be a talkative, don't be submissive enough to agree to anything below standard, set your standards, don't accept every offer, be mature in your look and speech and you'll see the positive result of gaining respect within the shortest period if only you apply this simple tips. Develop your personality to Stay successful.
